And all this doing without desinfection ?? When I did a similar proceedings, I allways between steps of doing I used 1 - 2 small bowls filled with 70% isopropyl alcohol disinfectant handy so you can frequently dip your fingers into it—or dab them with a piece of sturdy, plain toilet paper or paper towel—after first disinfecting the piercing site and the surrounding area, as well as your instruments (such as the needles). If you are performing the piercing on someone else, gloves are a must—or better yet, consult a professional piercer. However, I am deeply impressed by those who do it themselves—particularly women. Furthermore, do not use just any random rings or studs; instead, opt for materials that are at least low-nickel 316L surgical steel (even though irritation can still occur), titanium, or PTFE. During the healing process, do not go overboard with the disinfecting; limit it to a maximum of twice a day. Be sure to ask a professional for recommendations regarding the proper disinfectant (preferably a spray) and perhaps a healing ointment (though I personally managed without any ointment)—especially when dealing with mucous membranes. If you would like to know how to skillfully and gently stretch the piercing to a larger gauge relatively quickly, please feel free to ask.
